Joining the brotherhood is based on achieving a rank within the organization. With each rank conferring specific privileges as well as being associated with various levels of skills and knowledge.

RANKS/LEVELS

There are five ranks within the brotherhood: Hirðmaðr, Hersir, Berserkr, and two categories of Úlfheðinn (integrated or not). Reaching any such rank is subject to various conditions, always including swearing an oath of secrecy.

HIRÐIR

OPERATIONAL UNITS

There are 3 different types of units: Hirðmenn Hirðir (composed of Hirðmenn and typically led by Hersar), Berserkir Hirðir (composed of Berserkir), and Úfhéðnar Hirðir (composed of Úfhéðnar).
